1STS AVOID RELEGATION
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congratulations to the 1sts whose win over Fletching 2nds meant that they have now officially avoided relegation to Div 6. They have now picked up maximum points in each of their last 3 games. It has been a brilliant effort from the whole team, who can now look forward to another season in Div 5. Well done to everyone involved.
CHRIS PULLEN GETS HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL SCORE IN MARES HISTORY.
2nd team captain Chris Pullen has re written the Mares record books by getting the highest ever individual score in the history of the club. His feat came in the 2nds game against Burwash Weald on Saturday 5th June 2010 at Maresfield. Chris scored an amazing unbeaten 164 beating the previous record which had been held for 21 years by Brian Denyer. Denyer also scored 164, but he was out, so Pullen's NOT OUT takes him to the number 1 spot. Well done Chris.
1STS HIT HIGHEST LEAGUE SCORE IN MARES HISTORY.
May 7th 2011 saw another Mares club record broken as the 1sts hit the highest ever league score by a Mares team, when they scored 316 for 6 away at Ringmer 2nds, beating the previous highest score of 301 which was scored by the Magoos at Ridgewood in 2005. This was only the 3rd time in Mares history that 300 or more has been scored by one of our sides in a league match. The only other occasion was in 2008 when the 1sts scored 300 away at Glynde 3rds. The 1sts winning margin of 226 runs is probably also a club record in a league match, but there are no official statistics of winning margins to check it against. Well done to the 1sts.
